Construction Moving Along In West Lafayette
I don’t know when this will post, but as I write it some construction projects in West Lafayette have finished, and we are still waiting on a couple more to finish so that our normal routes can be open again. I went out a couple of weeks ago and made this photo with the morning traffic moving through as the construction continued on the new bike path along side of the road. Earlier in the week that I made the photo the sun looked amazing as it came up. Of course on those days I was driving one of the kids to school. On the morning that I had a chance to make the photo the clouds were all around and a little mist was coming down. I liked the blue sky though, and thought that it worked well with the lights from the cars.
Making The Photo
This is a composite of five photos that I made on this morning. I used the left side of the image from the first photo that I made because the workers stayed still for nearly the entire eight second exposure. The sky had more of those blue clouds in that exposure as well. I then combined the light trails from the cars from four exposures to get that look on the right hand side of the frame. On site I knew that I would combine the light trails so I tried to time my exposures with that in mind. I don’t know that this is an award winning photo, but it was a nice way to plan and execute an idea.
