Finally Pulling Over For A Photo
This is a photo that I saw for a long time. For a certain part of the Aviators season I would drive by this Dollar General during blue hour. For a few years I thought that it would be a cool photo for me, but I didn’t know if it would have an audience on here. At some point though this year I came to the conclusion that it kind of doesn’t matter if every photo has an audience. I decided to stop that night and finally make the photo that I had been thinking about for a while now.
Some Inspiration
This summer I went down a crazy rabbit hole that led me to where I am now. I started looking more at the work of William Eggleston. I watched a couple of videos on him on YouTube that really inspired me for photos like this. Somewhere in the recommended video sidebar was a video by Nick Carver. I clicked on it, and then was hooked for a while. He makes some amazing photos of things that I normally would never have thought to make one of. That includes a Dollar General store at blue hour. I found him very inspiring, and that directly led to me selling some gear and investing in some film gear. I wanted to try that slow approach to photography. If you have a chance check out Nicks work here.
