Indiana Wins The Golden Boot

Yesterday I was at Folk Field for the Golden Boot game between Purdue and Indiana. Over the years I have been lucky enough to photograph Purdue hoisting this trophy a few times. I went down to IU in 2015 to watch them break the streak and hold it up in 2015. I haven’t been in the press box in a while, but that photo used to be up there in a very large format. I went down on my own that day because I knew if Purdue won it would break a long streak and the players would be really happy. It would be a great photo. As time wound down in this game I knew that the players on the IU side would be feeling the same thing. It has been a while since they held the trophy so it would mean much more to them.

This game was the polar opposite from the game that I saw on Saturday night. Saturday the two teams played nearly the entire game before the deciding goal was scored with 2.9 seconds left. In this game the lone goal of the game was scored in the opening seconds. Purdue had some good chances, but could not get that tying goal into the net.
