Twelve Years Of Posting A Photo A Day
It is hard to believe that I had this crazy idea to post a photo a day twelve years ago today. I was on Google+ and saw where some people had really improved their photography by doing photo 365 projects. Before writing this I went back and looked at those early posts. They are absolutely awful, and I would love to get them off of this site. This blog though has become a way to share the things that took me way too long to learn. Seeing those terrible early photos and how I have gained something from them has some value. In late July I made a deal with myself to post at least two blog posts a day. It was a way to get me out there more making photos. I was just going to do it through August. I am still doing it now, and I am thinking of keeping it going through the end of the year. It really has felt like those early days of the blog where I am always looking for what could be my next blog post. That training of the eye really helps me find things out there that I might not have normally seen. I am glad that I started this project, and keeping it going has been a blast. Thank you to everyone who has followed along for this journey. It has taken me places that I would never have guessed it could.
The Connection With The Anthrop Family
This blog started out with a post showing Danny Anthrop running a punt back for a touchdown. I was at a high school football game that night, and it was a photo that I was proud of. I really thought that it was Sports Illustrated material. Looking back it was far from it. You can see that first post here. The next year I just happened to be at the Purdue football game in the stands for the end of the project, and I thought that Danny would be a great way to bookend that year of making a photo a day. Over the years I have been fortunate enough to see an Anthrop play a sport for most of the life of this blog. This year early on I was driving in the country making some photos in the fog. I saw the Anthrop flag flying, and I knew that I had my photo for today. Before this blog I had a sports blog where I made terrible photos and predictions of games. I was in the stands making photos of Dru during his Purdue career. I was then lucky enough to photograph Danny and Jackson from field level. I am sure that soon enough there will be a new crop of Anthrops to grace this blog. It has become a fun way to celebrate another year on the blog.
