Late Night At The Drive In

A Late Night At Triple XXX

I love the idea of this photo. Everything important is lit up, and the rest kind of falls into darkness. That is the magic of Ilford HP5. For this image it highlights the signs of Triple XXX and even the inside patrons. I went with the intent of making a photo from across the street with the front of the building showing, but as I walked by here I saw something that I really liked. It is not quite an Edward Hopper painting, but it reminds me a little of one. I need to try this photo again with some CineStill to see what I can get.

The Fun Of Film

It is funny how making film photos has brought me back to the beginning in a way. For the most part I have no idea what I am doing, and anything good that I get is a bonus. This blog was started nearly 12 years ago to the date with the idea of getting better as a photographer. With film it has made me slow down a little and think about each photo. With different film stocks it also makes me look at my surroundings with those characteristics in mind. I really think that it has made me a better photographer overall.
