College Football: Wisconsin at Purdue

Another Wisconsin Game At Purdue

I have been coming to Ross Ade Stadium for almost thirty years now, and in that time I have seen Purdue beat the Badgers once. That was the first game that I saw the two teams play each other in back in 1997. Other than that it has just been pain when the Badgers came to town. I have been to Camp Randell once, and that was another day to forget as Purdue was handled pretty easily up there as well. In 2019 I can say that I didn’t see Purdue lose because I had to leave the stadium after the 2nd overtime to cover volleyball next door. I walked out I believe with Purdue in the lead so in my mind maybe they could have won that game if I didn’t look it up. One of these days I will be in Ross Ade when Purdue pulls owe of these out. I know that some people are against storming the field, but that has to be a game to do it. Generations of Purdue fans could celebrate on the field with the team to finally break the Badger curse.

Going Wide At The Start

This year prior to the season I came up with a photo for every runout. I had a different photo in mind for this game, but late in the pregame I changed it up a little. I think my idea would work much better next week, and I can try something else out from that spot in the first quarter of the game. I like the idea of having a different spot to be in every week for the runout. For years I covered the coin toss so I couldn’t be too far from midfield when Purdue took the field. I love this freedom of being able to be wherever I want when the team comes out. As with all of these runout photos you can purchase a print of it by clicking on the photo and going to my website. The purchases of these photos goes a long way towards helping me purchase an updated long lens to use at these night games.

Photographing Both Sides

One thing about photographing both sides of the game is that you are getting to see some action no matter what. In the first half Purdue was not doing a whole lot, but Wisconsin gave me some photos for my gallery. Next week for the first time in a while I will get to photograph the cannon no matter what. I obviously have a little bias with who I would rather see with the trophy, but no matter what I will have a photo opportunity.

Adding In The New Elements

Part of the fun of this early season is trying to work the new elements of the stadium into the game photos. In the past it was things like the new ribbon boards and scoreboard which in low light can be tricky. Here some of these new elements of the Tiller tunnel really look good in photos. The small touch of having the Purdue P light up makes for a much cooler photo.

More Photos From The Game

A prior commitment only let me make photos during the first half of the game. I originally didn’t think that I would be able to photograph any of it at all, but I was hoping for a good sunset and a fun first half to make photos at. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the first half of the game.
