Three Cameras At The Car Lot

Three Cameras At The Car Lot

I really like the idea of this post. With just getting my foot in the door in film photography it is great to see just how the different film performs in a similar situation. It lets me start to get an idea of what I like and what I would want to use in the future. For this post I had three film cameras with three different kinds of film in them. The top photo was made with my Canon AE-1 with a 35mm lens on it and Lomography 100 film in the camera. The second photo was made with my Sears TLS Camera with a 35mm lens on it and Kodak Ultramax 400 loaded in it. The third photo was made with my Canon Sure Shot that I had just purchased with a fresh roll of Kodak Gold in it. With a similar focal length I decided to stay in one spot and try and make a similar photo with all three cameras.

Which Photo Do I Like The Best?

This competition turned into a two photo race really quickly when I got my film back. My Canon point and shoot every now and then just gives me a dark frame. This is one of those. I assume it is due to user error of some sort, but it has taken out a few photos that I was hoping would be better. With that photo out it is down to two images. With the bottom photo ruled out I have to choose between the top two images. I really like them both for different reasons. For some reason though I keep going back to the top image made with Lomo 100 film and my Canon AE-1. The coloring just gives it an older feel which I think works well with this old sign. The second photo on Ultramax film looks good as well. I added a little warmth to the scan in Lightroom and I think it made something that I really like. Like I said though I like the top photo today. Tomorrow I might like the second one more. Which one is your favorite? If you like the bottom photo I have a camera that you will love.
