A Cool Building

I was on my way to a party in Indy just a block or so from this building when I decided to stop and make this photo. I just loved the retro brick look and the sign. The old brick painted white gave me old Comiskey Park vibes so it made sense to stop and make this photo. I think that the symmetry of the building would have worked from a head on perspective, but that old sign would have been lost. By pulling in off to the side a bit I was able to show off the things that made me pull over in the first place.

Converting Portra 400 To Black And White

The thing that I love the most about using Portra 400 is how the color looks in the photos. Why then would I convert this photo to black and white in post? The building and foreground of this photo was pretty monochromatic, and a gray cloud in the background left me with very little color in this photo to begin with. I thought that this black and white conversation made for a more interesting photo. Just because the film renders nice colors does not mean that you need to keep every photo with it in color.
