A Quiet Walk On Campus

A Rainy Walk On Campus

Last night when the kids went to bed I went out to campus for a walk. It had just started raining, and I was ready to make some reflection photos. Of course the rain that was supposed to continue for hours was more of a drizzle than anything. At times though it was enough to get the umbrella out, and it allowed me to make the photo above. I used to walk campus and hope that people would not be in my frame. In a photo like this one though I waited for the chance to get the one person with an umbrella in the frame. I love these photos where I find the scene and then wait for the subject. For most of the day you would have trouble getting just a single person in the frame. This is a busy walkway. On a rainy night after ten though it is a little easier to get just one person in the frame. With a little patience I made a frame that I really liked from my walk.

Just My Wish

I always kind of laugh on these walks as I am hoping for the rain to pick up a little. I have to be the only one wishing for that on campus. The rain makes everything about walking on campus a little bit harder. It also makes everything look a little bit better especially at night. My weather demands as a photographer are usually the opposite of what I want as someone walking around. I don’t want a slicker walkway to walk on, but it looks much better that way in my photos.
