A Late Summer Day At The Bell Tower

Spending A Day Walking Campus

A couple of weeks ago I spent a couple of hours walking campus with my film camera making some images. On my way back to my car I photographed most of that walk with Ilford HP5 film. I knew very little about the film at the start of the walk, but I knew that it was a black and white film so I tried to make photos like I would with black and white in mind. Here I knew that I had a cool photo, but I needed a piece to make it a little better. A bike coming down the path was that extra piece. It is a simple photo, but I really like how it turned out.

Using Ilford HP5

I used a couple of types of film on this walk. Part of the idea was for me to photograph iconic things on campus as I went so that I could compare the different types of film. It was a good way for me to learn about the different types of film, and places that I would like to use it. What I found out about this film is that it gave me a look unlike anything that I have photographed before. Instantly any of these photos had an old time look to them. I like the idea of this film, and after getting a chance to use it on campus I now have some ideas of where to go from here.
