A Special Date In Baseball History

A Very Special Baseball Date For Me

August 25th, 1985. That was the date that my father took me to my very first White Sox game. We had a color TV at the time, but I remember that for some reason I used to watch the Sox games on an old black and white TV. Most of my viewing of WFLD was on that old black and white. Imagine my amazement when we walked up to 35th and Shields to see the old Comiskey Park in front of us. When we were inside the green of the field and the yellow of the box seats were so vivid to me. On our way to our seats we ran into Rich Dotson and Carlton Fisk. From that day on I was a huge Carlton Fisk fan. If you have ever talked baseball to me for over two minutes I have probably brought that up. It was an amazing day for me.

Making A Cool Date Even Better

A couple of years ago when we were locked down I wished that I could have been at the park with my dad. The virus of course made it so that nobody was allowed into the park. I settled for watching the game on TV. Of course what transpired would be the highlight of the baseball year for me. Lucas Giolito spun a no-hitter and made that August 25th date much cooler for me. I am working a volleyball game today so no baseball for me. That doesn’t mean that I won’t be thinking about a couple of very cool occurrences on the 25th of August.

  1. I’m headed to Chicago tonight to see Sox v A’s with college friend and her daughter.
My dad brought us up as White Sox fans! I was the only child for 5 years and collected baseball cards and played t-ball.
