A Historic Bridge Shut Down
While out making photos around Battleground I drove down to the old State Road 225 bridge to make a couple of photos of it. This bridge has been closed for a while now with no real date for reopening. The most info that I can see is that they work start work on the bridge in 2024. With it closed it provided a good chance to stop and make a couple of photos of it. It is a cool blue bridge with very little space to make photos of it normally. Here I could take my time and craft a photo or two. I spent most of my time on the bridge with the AE-1, but here is a photo that I made with my A7R3 and a Ektar preset to give it more of the film look.
Using The Bridge As A Metaphor
Heading in to Battleground I had to take a detour to to get into town. On the other side of town this bridge is also out. Two of the ways that I could normally get to town were shut down. I still found my way to Battleground with a route that I am not used to taking. This kind of parallels my sports photography right now. The usual avenues to make photos at Purdue have been closed for whatever reason. I still want to get there though so I have found another way in. Last year I found out that the bridge was closed too late to get anything together. This year I had some time to plan and find a new way to make photos. It will be fun to try something new this year. Game day will be a little different covering both teams, but it also means that I will photograph a winner 100% of the time.
