Coming Out Of The Gate A Little Crazy
While I am learning on the job I decided that my second roll of film through my Canon AE-1 would be LomoChrome Color ’92 from Lomography. After coming directly from digital the noise was going to be interesting to deal with. I had watched too many YouTube videos which led me to the Lomography website. I knew that this film was a little experimental, but that is what this summer was about. I went and bought a few different film stocks just to try some things out and see what I like. I assume early on that I will like the finer grain film the best. I can see where I would like to use this in the future though. Part of the fun with film is coming up with the projects to use with it.
Learning On The Go
Out of the 35 images that came from this 36 image roll I only kept nine of them. That is not a great ratio to me. Most of the photos that I didn’t like were just a little too dark or just out of focus. Like the first roll through the camera I didn’t keep much after dark. Looking through the images after a couple of weeks let me know what I was doing right, and more importantly what I need to improve on. I pushed the first three rolls of film through the camera pretty quickly. Part of why I liked the idea of film photography was that it might go a little slower. Here are a few extra photos from this roll. I really need to use this film in a non sports situation to really see what I can do with it when I have some time to make the photos. I did learn that I can’t use the box speed though. A little extra light let this film shine a little more.
