The Levee Laundry

A Quick Photo At The Levee Laundry

The other night when I left the movie theater I drove through the Levee parking lot. It was nearly midnight so the light was not on my side, but I was looking for a scene. The Levee Laundry has been there for a while now. This is one of those places that hasn’t changed since I went to school at Purdue. When I made this photo I knew that it would be black and white because of the time of day. All of the lights though would be very nice as whites and the rest could go to black and make an interesting photo. These are the scenes and light that I would always drive by because I knew that it wouldn’t be too popular. Lately though I have been going back to these places and making photos. I like the light so why not make a photo of it?

Using The Camera Differently

Since the last storm my Sony A7R4 has no viewfinder. A six foot fall luckily only broke the viewfinder instead of the entire camera. It does make focusing more difficult though. I miss double checking my focus in the viewfinder. I need to send it in to get it fixed so that I don’t have to always look at the screen on the back of the camera. It feels crazy to hold it out to see the screen on the back to make photos. The good news is that over the last few years I have used that screen more and more so it doesn’t hold me back most of the time. For a scene like this one at night though I always want to double check focus. Here I lost the first couple of photos because my focus did not grab like I assumed it did. When I recomposed I nailed focus though and we have a fun photo of the day.
