Watching The Fireworks Over Purdue
Last night just before dark the little one and I headed up to Purdue to watch the fireworks over campus. We started off on Slayter Hill watching the local fireworks during blue hour before heading down to the intramural field for the big show. For a night that we had originally planned to stay at home we had a fun show in front of us.
Expectations vs. Reality
When I went out to photograph the fireworks last night I had the image at the top of the post in mind. Perfectly placed fireworks next to the Purdue clock tower. Of course reality saw us sprinting across the intramural field for a photo with a partially blocked clock tower. When I go out for these photo sessions I always have a very tough to make photo in mind. I will gamble a bit to make that perfect photo. Often when I come home I am a little disappointed because reality did not meet my high expectations. Last night I decided to merge the two to see what it would have looked like. The top photo is what I had hoped to capture, and the bottom photo is what I actually captured. In the top photo both of the elements used in the photo were made last night, but just at different times. It is a fun way to realize the expectations that I went out with.
