Getting The Macro Out

Dusting Off The Macro Lens

Every summer my macro lens gets a lot of use. In the winter I make some photos of snowflakes with it, but I really get most of my use with the macro in the summer. Most of that use comes in the front yard in our flower garden. Most of that macro fun involves the flowers that we have, but every now and then an insect will come into the frame. In both photos for this post I actually moved back a little to give more context of the scene. I know that most macro is done super tight on things. I have always liked to have a little more contextual details in my photos. That is the fun part about photography. We all see and like different things.

Some New Additions To The Garden

This year instead of mostly coneflowers in our flower garden we have a few new additions. We didn’t plant anything new there. Birds coming in and out eating the coneflower seeds last year must have given us some seeds for some new flowers. It is a welcome change, and it is fun to photograph some new flowers in the yard for once. It will be interesting to see what comes up next year in this spot. I am enjoyed the new colors and backgrounds though.
