The Joy Of Victory

Photographing The Joy Of Victory

Last weekend I was set up for a long, hot day. I photographed a softball semi-state game in the morning, and after a quick edit I went straight to a baseball game in the afternoon. In the ninth inning of the game I realized that the team I had come to see was not going to win. I took my time to make some last photos of the players of that team, but I knew that once the final out was recorded I would flip to the celebration. As a photographer you cannot beat that emotion. It is never optimal when it is not your team, but I would be crazy not to photograph it.

The Best Photo Available

I have spent most of my photography career with teams. I have not done much wire stuff in the past. That may change this year so I will have to change how I think, but in the past I have never felt that my team wants photos of them sad. I have always pivoted to the best photo available You never know when you will make something for the portfolio. I don’t think that I did that here, but I did make some fun photos of a few players having a great time. Below are a few more favorites from the end of the game.
