A Happy Accident

Making Something New

Last night I went up to the Purdue union to photograph the sunset behind the clock tower. I have been seeing these sunsets from ballparks all week and wanted to make a photo that took a little planning. I made my photo of the clock tower, but it sort of felt like something that I had already made. As I was putting my camera into my car a hawk came and flew within a few feet of me. If I had my camera in my hands it would have been an amazing photo. That hawk flying through made the birds scatter and then come back. Two mourning doves perched on one of the columns in some interesting light. I made a few photos of them before they took off. It was something different, and different is always good.

A Happy Accident

Maybe I watch too much Bob Ross, but often my favorite photos are the ones that I never planned. I liked that I took the time to plan out this photo. At some point you will see the photo that I planned on this blog. It felt like I was copying myself though so I was not too excited about it. This was unplanned and unexpected so of course I liked it much more. A happy accident while out in the field.
