Getting Up High To Make a Picture

Maybe it is the fact that I spent many years photographing sports from the stands that makes me head up there to make photos every now and then. For a big event like the Pack Mackey event that Purdue puts on every year I make a point to do it. Mackey Arena is a beautiful arena that looks good from most angles. Last season I think that I shot it from almost any way that you could. Here I had the idea of shooting from straight on during the anthem. Everyone would be looking right at me, and it would make for an interesting photo. Of course I don’t like to attract attention so the thought of all of those people looking at me was one that I could not let enter my mind. I just concentrated on framing my photo and waiting for the flag to appear on the jumbotron.

More Photos From the Boiler Box Challenge

I have created an Exposure page featuring some photos from the Boiler Box Challenge. Exposure is a great way to tell a story. For most games I don’t know how useful it is to me. For a multi team tournament like this one I like it a lot. You can find that page here. Over the course of the two days and five matches that I covered I made a lot of pictures that I liked. Exposure is a great way to show them off in a great format.
