Coach Hazell Gets His First Big Ten Win
The past few weeks have seen a few firsts for Coach Hazell and the Purdue Boilermakers. Yesterday was another first as they defeated Illinois to get the first Big Ten win of the Hazell Era. I say the Hazell Era because I would love to envision a scenario where in 10 years we see this win as just the first of many in the media guide. If you have not seen the video of the coach greeting his players then head on over to the Purdue Athletics Facebook page here to see it. Moments like this give me goosebumps, and get me jacked up to see Purdue play. I really wanted to go to Champaign, but I think that I am spoiled now. I really have a hard time watching games from the stands. Illinois has a strict no camera policy which I have had to circumvent a couple of times. I now wish that I had tried to get to the game. I will be in Ross Ade next week though as Michigan State a top ten team comes in. Hopefully the Boiler faithful will be loud and proud to help Purdue do something that it has not done in a few years. A field rush after taking down a top ten team would be a great way to start the day.
Practice Pays Off
Every week that I shoot football I get to the stadium a little early to warm up with the players. It is a way for me to get into a groove, but it is also a way to make some photos that are hard to get during a game. When I made this one of Austin Appleby I liked it, but since he was the backup I did not think that I would use it. I am glad that I kept it now as I have a photo for my post today. I thought that I would be sports free on a rare weekend off in the fall, but of course I have a sports photo both days this weekend. Tomorrow I hope to have a photo from the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon for you.
The New Mac
I talked a bit a couple of weeks ago about how my old Mac died on me after a long day of work. Most of the time though you can get something good to come from something bad. My new Mac is 4x as fast as the old one, and it makes editing photos way too easy. Just bringing photos into Lightroom has become something that I do not dread. With the old computer I had a long wait while the program rendered the images for me. I would upload jpegs into Lightroom or use Photomechanic to speed things up. With this new computer I am working at the same speed, but with the RAW files. When I moved up to the last Mac I was in love with the speed of it. This one once again has shown me how fast we are moving with technology in a short period of time. Editing videos might be a very easy task for me now. I just need to get out and make some.
