Shooting a Volleyball Tournament
With both morning matches going five sets with a long injury timeout thrown in the mix there was not much of a break in between the two sessions yesterday. The good news is that it was a mild day, and Belin Court was not a sauna. I did not even make it out of the parking lot before turning around to go back inside. Lucky for me I actually love days like today where I shoot non stop. There just seems to be a never ending supply of things to shoot. The challenge is to make your pictures look different from game to game. I didn’t want my second gallery for Notre Dame to look too much like the first one. I tried a few different angles while still shooting the net head on when I could. Tomorrow I should have no problem making unique photos as the Irish play Purdue in Mackey Arena. This big game gives you a different look right away.
The Nichol Sisters
The last game of the night featured both Val and Bailey Nichol on opposite teams. Val is a senior at Purdue, and her sister Bailey is a freshman at Moorehead State. In between the sessions I made this picture of the two sisters just a few hours before they would face each other. Val and Purdue won the nightcap in straight sets.
Bonus Photos
Below are some other photos that I liked from the game. You can see my full Notre Dame gallery from the second match of the day on the Notre Dame website as well.
