Shooting for the Irish
As a kid I grew up in the shadow of the campus of Notre Dame. As an Irish Catholic kid it was only natural that I would like the Irish. I then attended Purdue, and now I am a Boiler fan. It was a great feeling this week though when I found out that I would be shooting for Notre Dame. Being a freelance photographer you don’t always get to pick your clients. It really takes things up a notch when you have one that you grew up watching. Tomorrow night should be interesting as the Irish and Boilers square off in Mackey Arena. If you look up what team I rooted for in my high school football yearbook it would have said Notre Dame. A lot has changed since that time. I now live and work at Purdue. For a day though this was a chance to make that 17 year old kid happy.
Photographing Volleyball
I never really considered myself a good volleyball photographer. Then like soccer something just clicks, and you start to make images that you are proud of. I have found a couple of keys that help me anticipate where the action is going to be. In a fast sport like volleyball any time you can get ahead of the action it is good. I have posted a couple of photos from the first game today that I liked. With both morning matches going long it will not be long until the second half of the day starts. I will post some images from the nightcap tomorrow morning. Here is a link to my photo gallery on Notre Dame’s website.
