Using the Sony Eneloop Batteries
Early on in my photography I was going through AA batteries like they were going out of style. I needed to find a rechargeable that would help me save money. My first set of rechargeables I bought at the local hardware store. They worked very well, but they discharged when I was not using them. I would have to have a mass recharging before a shoot. I learned about the Sony Eneloop battery from Dave Black. He uses the battery because they keep their charge even when stored in a device. My initial purchase was just for an eight pack to test them out. Now I have too many of them to count. They really do work very well, and I do not have to constantly recharge them. I can just use them like a normal battery with the exception of not throwing it out at the end.
Besides the fact that they don’t discharge in storage these batteries also perform very well. They recycle quickly without overheating. When shooting an event you can really tax a battery. Sometimes a conventional battery will come out of the flash very hot. The Eneloop will get warm, but it will not overheat. They also really do recycle much quicker than a battery that you can find at the store. If you are looking for a great reliable battery for your photography needs, this is the one.
