Photographing Some Flowers For Fun
While at my brothers house awaiting the sunset I made some photos of the flowers in their garden. It is amazing how at some point you will literally photograph anything. I am not big when it comes to flowers, but the colors of the flower garden really reeled me in. I purposely tried to put some of the other flowers in the background as colorful bokeh. This was one of many shots that I made that day. I am sure that it will post a few more of those photos in the coming weeks.
Shooting Up Close Without a Macro Lens
For me it really does not make much sense right now to purchase a macro lens. Most of my images are made of sports so I need to shoot longer instead of up close and personal. In some instances I could use it for details on a day, but not with any kind of regularity. Here it really would have come in handy. Without a macro I usually just throw on the 70-200mm lens and get as close as it will let me. Here I was shooting with the 24-70mm lens, and I did not really want to go back inside to swap lenses. I decided to see how it would handle shots like this. I used the same technique of getting as close as the lens would let me, and then cropping a bit in post. For this shoot though I really did not have to crop very much. This shot seemed good as is so I left it alone.
