Photo of the Day
Once again some of my favorite elements came together last night. As the baseball game that I was covering was winding down in the 10th inning I moved over to capture the sunset that was happening behind the stadium. If I could have made my way onto the field I would have been treated with the sun itself popping out of the clouds. As it was I just set about to capture it with the stadium in the foreground. An extra inning game combined with cold temperatures made for a thinning crowd by the time I made this photo. Hopefully a warm night later in the year can make this photo even more interesting with some fans to fill the seats.
Technical Data
This photo was done with a little planning. I waited until everyone seemed still on the field. That moment just before the pitch was the perfect time to make the image that I wanted to make. Because of the wide range of light in the photo I decided to use HDR to make the image. I bracketed three shots at -2, 0, and +2 using the high speed continuous mode on my camera. That way I could make the images as fast as possible to limit movement. Back home I took the series of images from Lightroom and sent them into Photomatix Pro 5. I let the program fuse the images together, but then sent the 32 bit image back into Lightroom to process it. Inside of Lightroom I used the HDR Look preset to begin with. I then toned the preset down a bit to get the look that I wanted. From there the image was ready to send to SmugMug so that I could publish it here.
