Photo of the Day
While in LaPorte last week for a few days I had some time to explore my hometown. One lake overlooks the town in a way, and I have always wanted to try this angle of the town. These three trees have always stuck out to me. They used to separate the lake and the goldfish pond, but now they sit in the lake itself. Everything changes I guess. On this snowy day I wanted to make a picture that showed how cold I was taking it. I think that the black and white treatment helps that along.
Technical Data
For this photo I knew that I wanted a stripped down black and white photo. I exposed in camera with this in mind. I wanted the whites to show just enough so that you could see depth in the photo. I used the HDR in black and white preset by Matt Kloskowski, and then I cranked up the blacks, clarity, and contrast a bit. I think that it made for something that could be a picture or a chalk drawing.

I love that you can see the snow. Building bokeh!
Thank you very much.
I’m a sucker for trees and B&W – so it’s not surprising I like this!
