The Skyline

Photo of the Day

This is yet another photo from my trip to New York in 2008. It is hard to believe that the trip happened almost 5 years ago now. I really did not make many pictures on the trip, but many of those that I did take have found their way onto this site over the last year or so. Looking back on it now though this trip nearly ended my photography career. My sensor was dirty at the time, and I thought that it would be very difficult to clean. When I asked an employee of Best Buy they explained that it would cost nearly as much to clean the camera as it would for a new camera. I really quit using my camera in landscape situations because of the dirty sensor. That is too bad. Now thought with different tools to get rid of the dust spots many of my photos can now see the light of day. It also taught me an important lesson about the experts at Best Buy.

Technical Data

This photo looked alright, but I loved it when I applied the HDR in black and white preset to it. It really gave me a look that I like, and made it a photo that I wanted to share right away. Of course because of the dust I used the spot removal tool in Lightroom 5 to help clear up the sky.
