Photo of the Day
Last Saturday while shooting the Purdue game it looked like I would be skunked trying to photograph a Purdue touchdown. It was then with 39 seconds left that Danny Etling hit DeAngelo Yancey for a 55 yard touchdown. Most of the photographers had already left leaving just a couple in the north end zone. I had already put away my long lens, but I did have my 24-70mm lens ready to go. I have a very cropped image of Yancey pulling in the ball, but I really like this image. It was part of my post last Sunday, but I like it enough I thought that it should have a post of its own. Yancey is a huge bright spot for this team, and I think that I will end up with many pictures of him in the end zone before he is through with his Purdue career.
Technical Data
For this image I wanted to try the HDR look preset by Matt Kloskowski. It gave this picture a feel that I really liked. The gray skies really seemed to become much more interesting. The other bit of technical data is how I shot this. I was standing up when the play started, but I quickly dropped to a knee to create the up angle of DeAngelo. I think that it makes the players look much larger, and I went down as quick as I could as the play unfolded.
