It’s A Bout Time!

Tomorrow is the last home bout of the year for the Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls. This has been an incredible year photographing these women. Photographing roller derby is unlike anything else that I do. The women put their heart and soul into it. They practice all year long. They not only skate in the bout, but they are responsible for everything else going on at that time. Imagine Peyton Manning worrying about the defense he is facing this week, but also worrying about securing the venue that he will play in. These women do a great job, and I cannot wait to make more pictures of them.

Technical Data

Because of the lighting at the fairgrounds where they skate I decided to make this a black and white image. That seemed to fix the color issue from several different lights casting different shades on this photo. I also upped the contrast as well as the blacks to give it that great concert black and white look. I like what that did here to this picture.
