The Path to Enlightenment

Photo of the Day

My last day with the 5D Mark III I went to a familiar spot to try a picture. For some reason this old church just outside of West Lafayette just keeps drawing me in. During my photo 365 project I visited it often even if I did not make a picture there. I would just see if the conditions were right to make a nice picture. There is something about the weathered nature of this church that keeps me coming back to it.

Technical Data

This was a fun picture to edit. I fused three images together in Photomatix. Shooting into the sun I knew that I had to bracket for the large dynamic range of light. I set up the camera to take three pictures. They were at -3, 0, and +3. I converted the photo to black and white inside of Photomatix, and then exported the photo back to Lightroom for a couple of touchups. I removed the ugly power lines that were in the shot. I also made a couple of minor slider adjustments.
