Photo of the Day
Last night at the last minute I changed my plans to watch the fireworks. I went over to my brothers house to see them. I did not know what to expect from there, and initially I was very disappointed. From our vantage point we could not see the fireworks that Lafayette was having. We could see a great show from what appeared to be near Otterbein. The display that stole the show was done in his neighborhood though. The display was much longer than any city display, and very impressive the entire time. I liked the idea of having the blue lights from the fountain along with the firelight in the foreground with the firework display in the background. On a night when I thought that I missed my shot I think that I made one that I like a lot more.
Technical Data
To make sure that I got the entire bursts in my shot I started using a remote trigger on bulb mode. As I kept going I left the shutter open longer and longer to get more and more bursts included in the shot. The stacked bursts really looked great to me. The frame above was one where I kept the shutter open for 25 seconds. It allowed the ambient light in the foreground to show up as well as stacking the fireworks overhead. I have a couple of more ideas for shooting the fireworks the next time I get an opportunity. This stacking is great if you have anything in the foreground. I will have to do a lot more research before I see my next display.
