Let The Fireworks Fly

Photo of the Day

Today is a day that celebrates our nations independence. It is a day when a few signatures on a piece of paper by a few brave men meant that everything they knew would change. Thankfully they did what they did so that we can all have what we do today. Today though the day is marked by parades and barbecues. At night of course is the fireworks display. Some people go to the towns large display while others just have their own. All of these events make for good photography. I made this picture a couple of weeks ago at the fireworks held in Lafayette after the Taste of Tippecanoe. This was handheld so I had to try and stay very still while my shutter was open. After looking at how much I had to adjust while shooting the fireworks that night  I have to wonder if handheld is not the way to go when it comes to fireworks. I might just try both ways tonight.

Technical Data

While editing my fireworks shots I stumbled across something that really made them look great. A combination of moving a few sliders in directions I don’t normally move them really made me happy. I will work on the sliders a bit more to get them just right, and then release it as a preset.
