Photo of the Day
I am a day late on this one, but 50 years ago yesterday was one of the greatest pitching duels ever that will never be duplicated. Warren Spahn and Juan Marichal dueled into the 16th inning before a Willie Mays home run ended the game. What is even more impressive is that the game lasted just over four hours. A 9 inning White Sox game just lasted that long last week. Two Hall of Fame pitchers dueling into the 16th is a great game, but it took another Hall of Famer to end the game. I thought that this picture of the Juan Marichal statue at AT&T Park would be appropriate today. In an era of specialty pitchers a extra inning outing is rare. Two going this long is unheard of.
Technical Data
The light in this situation called for an HDR image. Instead of going the usual route using Photomatix I just used an HDR preset in Lightroom to edit this photo. It gave the scene the look that I wanted.
