Another View of the Tuskegee Airmen

Photo of the Day

Last October I went to the Purdue Airport to see one of the planes flown by the Tuskegee Airmen. It was a beautiful plane that was in a very poor setting to make a picture. It was dark with clutter all around the plane. I guess that they were more concerned with people actually seeing the plane rather than me making a picture of it. I tried a few angles of the plane not really sure what was working. I had never made a picture of a plane before so it was a learning experience.

Technical Data

This is one reason why I like to hold back images for a while before releasing them. As my post processing knowledge grows I go through phases with how I process pictures. Sometimes I am in a dark, gritty phase, and other times I am into HDR letting everything show up. I had originally played around with the sliders for this picture, but before sending it out today I decided to try a couple of presets on it. One that I really liked was Matt Kloskowski’s strong Tonal Contrast preset. It really seemed to make the plane look great, and stand out from the background a bit.
