Photo of the Day
Two years ago today my life really changed for the better. I was in Chicago for a photo seminar. I had never attended one of these before, but I really was inspired by it. After a couple of years of just hoping something good came out of my camera I now had the power to make the exposure that I wanted. My eyes were really opened, and my journey really began on that day. On the same day I was offered a short term position in West Lafayette that ended up being much longer. It was a great opportunity that helped everything else that has happened since then.
I have since soured on the idea of these workshops. The one I attended was really affordable, but some really do charge way too much for what is taught. Some photographers make their living by telling others that they can make money as a photographer. It happens all over in various fields, but it is very apparent here. That being said this was the jolt that I needed to start to pursue this career.
Technical Data
Because this was from a jpeg I didn’t want to stress it out too much by working it too hard in Lightroom. I used a Trey Ratcliff preset called Dramatically Shaven Chippy. It is one of the new sets of Lightroom presets that he has released. It really took a boring sky and made it interesting to me. I don’t like to do things like this for every photo, but for some of them it works.

I am from the Chicagoland area and I wonder what workshop you took. Isn’t photography wonderful?
