Another Super Moon

Photo of the Day

Last night after a long day I set out to photograph the super moon. I had an idea for a photo, and set off to make that idea. I was going to try and have the super moon and the clock tower of Purdue in the same photo. I got to my location to shoot only to find out that the iPhone program that tells me the moons location was not working. I downloaded a new one, but it was not working too great. I thought that the cloud cover would prevent the photo anyway so I just left to go home. On my way I stopped near Ross Ade Stadium at Purdue thinking I might have a view from up there. The moon was just coming out of the clouds. I didn’t have time for a tripod so I just started firing away handheld. I only had a few seconds before the moon went back into another cloud, but I managed to get something that I liked. I really need to start finding the right body of water a few days ahead of time so that I can make a picture no matter what. Having to jump between buildings is not all that much fun.

Technical Data

This was supposed to be the darker exposure in a three shot HDR. The other two were blurry, so I had to make this one work. I lightened it up a bit in Lightroom so that it looked like it did last night. After adding some highlights back to the picture I was done. Not much to talk about here. I did use my 70-200mm lens with the 1.4x extender on it to get a bit closer though.
