Photo of the Day
Every year I watch the College World Series with millions of other people. I love the way that the game is played in Omaha, Nebraska. This is how baseball should always be played. This year I have a little added interest in the series. The third baseman for the Indiana Hoosiers is Dustin DeMuth. He is from my hometown of LaPorte. Before leaving LaPorte for good I watched Dustin at quarterback for the Slicer Football team many times. I never did see him play for the Slicer baseball team though. A couple of years ago I saw Dustin playing third base as a freshman for the Indiana Hoosiers when they came to town to play Purdue. Since that time though IU has not come back to West Lafayette. That is why it has been pretty cool to see Dustin on ESPN playing in what I think is one of the coolest tournaments around. Of course his team lost the one game I was able to watch for very long. They now have a much harder road to the Championship Series, but it can still be done. You always root for the hometown kid, and now I have a special rooting interest in this series.
Technical Data
I took this picture in 2011 long before I had my better gear. Looking through my sports pictures at the time I was just happy to have something in the frame. I did change the orientation of this photo in Lightroom. I liked the portrait orientation much better. I also used Matt Kloskowski’s light sports preset to give the shot a little punch. It was missing something in my mind when I saw it, and the preset got me close to where I wanted to be. I adjusted the temperature and the highlights after applying the preset, and that was the end of the work on this photo.
