Diving Right In

indy 500 practice

Photo of the Day

Here is another picture from Carb Day last year. Early on in the day they had a practice session for the drivers who would be in the big race on Sunday. I did not make pictures for most of that practice session, but I did manage to make a few. I was high up in the stands trying to make an interesting picture of a car far below me. These were not ideal conditions, but looking through my pictures I realize that I could have done some very interesting things. Next year maybe I will try a couple of things at the track during practice.

Follow My Journey

This is my first trip actively using Instagram. If you want to follow along with my trip follow me on Instagram at pinolaphoto. During the trip I hope to show the journey as well as a couple of sneak peaks at what is to come on the blog later.

Technical Data

I have always liked the way that the pros tilt their images to make it appear as if the car was diving down. I did not shoot it that way, but rather shot as close as my 75-300mm lens would allow. Luckily I had enough room around the image to perform the tilt in Lightroom. I also applied Matt Kloskowski’s light sports preset to the image. With all of that done it just took a couple of tweaks to the sliders to get the image to where I wanted it to be.
