Photo of the Day
Today I went to see some morning baseball in Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Indians were playing the Gwinnett Braves. I only took two lenses with me to the park. I took my 70-200mm and my 8mm fisheye. I knew that the bulk of my work would be done with the 70-200mm, but I really wanted to try a couple of things with the fisheye. This was one of them. I love the way that the upper deck bends to create a very cool border for the field. I think that I will have to try this throughout the summer to see what other interesting compositions I can come up with. I spent about three innings walking around with the fisheye on the camera trying some things out. For the most part if you have something close in the foreground with the stadium as a backdrop you have a unique picture. This was by far my favorite of the images though.
Technical Data
In the past this would have been a three or more shot HDR image processed in Photomatix. As it stands it was just a single RAW image processed in Lightroom. The sliders in there really are great, and you can get everything that you want out of your image with them. You can regain the shadow detail by increasing the shadows slider. Here it is cranked up quite a bit. I also brought out some of the textures with the highlights, clarity, and contrast sliders. I really like this shot, but I wish that more people were at the game. The empty seats really detract from the photo. I will have to try again, and hope that they can sell some more tickets.
