Tomorrow is the home opener for the Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls. They are our local roller derby team, and I happen to be the team photographer for them. It has been a while since the season opener, but I hope that the team can keep up the great teamwork that they had going in Southern Illinois. They had about as good of a first half as I think that you can. They really seemed to use the new rules to their advantage. Hopefully tomorrow will be more of the same. Roller derby is very fun to photograph because it is so difficult. You have many things working against you, but that just makes that great shot that much better. When you see that photo in Lightroom you get a little more excited than normal. I hope to see you at the new Brawl House tomorrow night in Lafayette!

Technical Data

I have not used this preset in some time. Last year I downloaded a preset from Matt Kloskowski called ‘The 300 Look’. It gave my pictures with a lot of red in them a great look. I used it on a couple of derby shots from our trip to California and it worked great. It was at that time that I decided to alter that preset to suit the colors of the local derby team. My little experiment worked, and I love the pictures that come from the preset. It worked pretty good here, but it works much better on a subject that has much more pink on. I will try for that shot tomorrow.
