Photo of the Day
Getting the shot is all about location. As you can see here I did not have that location, and Wolf Park photographer Monty Sloan did have it. That did not mean that I couldn’t make an interesting picture though. I thought that a behind the scenes photo of what Monty does to keep up his photo of the day site would be very cool. He does a great job with these wolves making beautiful images daily. You can see those photos here. If you want to view more of his work he also has a personal website with his images on there. I have always wanted to take his photo class inside the enclosure, but I have never done it yet. I guess that is a bucket list item for the future. I thought that for once this would be a much different photo than I am used to showing.
If you are interested in Wolf Park they are located just outside of Battleground, Indiana. They are open from 1-5 every Saturday this month, and starting May 1st they will back to being open their normal hours. I cannot wait to get out and see the wolves again.
Technical Data
For this shot I had to do a couple of things. This was shot while I was renting my first 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. I did not have the teleconverter yet so reaching across the pond was a stretch. I had to crop this image quite a bit to get the composition that I was thinking about on the day. I think that I did that. I also wanted a quick edit so I used Matt Kloskowski’s light sports preset on it. All I had to do then was to perform a couple of subtle changes that I do every time to the photo. I really need to make my own preset.

Great shot!
