A Super Opening

Photo of the Day

Last night I went to see the Monster Energy Supercross series race in Indianapolis. About ten years ago I was really into the sport. I have since really lost track of the stars. I have however watched a bit of it lately, and when I found out it would be an hour away I was excited to go. These guys really do perform amazing feats all while racing. I would have trouble just riding the motorcycle while these athletes are tearing off a layer of their goggles while fifty feet in the air. It really is something to see.

I took this picture as the National Anthem was ending. I thought that they might do something nice at the end, and I was rewarded for sure. I loved the look of the stadium and track with the lights turned down low, and the fireworks just add to the atmosphere.

Technical Data

This was a very easy edit. I knew that I wanted an HDR look to pick up the colors on the ceiling. I couldn’t run the photo through Photomatix though as it does not like high ISO pictures. I actually tried another picture, and it was too noisy for my taste. I used one of Matt Kloskowski’s preset for Lightroom called HDR Look Medium 2. It really did make the picture pop for me. I then brought the highlights in a bit as well as darkened the picture. From there all that I had to do was use Lightroom’s noise feature to soften the noise created by the high ISO. All that was left was to export the picture.

Facebook Page

I really have been doing a better job of updating my Facebook page. I usually post galleries of events on there as well as the photo of the day auto posts, but I have been trying to put a bit of bonus content on there. If you haven’t checked it out then just click here. I would hope by the end of the day I can get through all of my pictures enough to have a photo gallery of last night up by tomorrow morning. While you are there why not click on the like button?
