Happy Birthday Harold!

Sports Photo of the Day

Today former White Sox slugger and current first base coach Harold Baines turns 54. Harold was a quiet force for the White Sox during his stints with the club. He was well loved despite not being a vocal player. His clutch hitting was something to see, and this statue of him batting now sits in right field where he patrolled for so many years in Chicago. The White Sox will be wearing these uniforms from 1983 on all Sundays this year at the park. It will be nice to see Harold back in the colors that I remember him in.

Technical Data

This shot was one that I was never sure I liked. I was using auto mode as it was 2008, and I was still not sure about certain ways to make photographs. The flash really washed out the statue giving it a glow that I did not like. Using the power of Lightroom though I was able to turn down the exposure to make this picture a bit more dramatic. Now the clouds played a factor in the shot making the sky much more interesting than the white blob that was there before. A few tweaks to the sliders, and this picture was ready to export.
