Happy Birthday Paulie!

Sports Photo of the Day

Today one of my favorite White Sox players turns 37. The captain of the White Sox is another year older, but far from over the hill. Maybe I say that because in a few months I will turn 37 as well. Paulie is the last remaining member of that 2005 team that won the World Series playing with the White Sox. His longevity with the team has allowed him to amass some great numbers that when it is all said and done should put him near the top of many offensive categories for the White Sox. Of course we all know that stolen bases won’t be one of those. Happy Birthday captain, and have a great year. You are in your prime you know.

Technical Data

To start with this photo I used the light sports preset that Matt Kloskowski has on his blog for free. These are great presets that help you get a good start with your sports photos. I don’t think that they always are the final answer, but they get you very close. From there it was a matter of just tweaking a couple of sliders to get this photo where I liked it. I did also perform a small crop to the photo to get the shot a little closer. Without a 600mm lens from this distance some cropping is needed.
