Keep Your Eye on the Prize

Sports Photo of the Day

Today Purdue has a big matchup at home against Michigan State. I will not be in town to see it, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t be rooting my Boilers on from afar. I took this picture a couple of years ago during a big game against Michigan State. Purdue was having one of those games that would show the things to come for the team. The “Baby Boilers” were just sophomores, but they were playing much better than that. From my vantage point in the stands I rarely made a good dunk picture. The player was always blocked by the rim. Here though I anticipated the moment perfectly. The only problem is one of the strobes on the ceiling went off at the same time. When you are capturing a moment in time at 1/320th of a second it is rare to click at the exact same time as someone else. Of course that happened here, and I thought that it ruined a perfectly good picture.

Technical Data

I tried to get rid of as much of the spotlight look on this shot as I could. To do that I had to adjust the highlights a bit. I wanted to try and save this shot a bit in order to be able to show it off. I think that I did that here.
