Photo of the Day
When I was at Wrigley last August I got my first chance to see the new Ron Santo statue at Wrigley Field. Usually I think these type of statues are a bit awkward, but this one really was well done. I love the way that it captured Ron throwing the ball presumably to first. I took a couple of shots of the statue, but I really like this one the best. Ron was probably better known for his career after his playing days, but he did have a fine career as a player. He received his Hall of Fame induction as well as this statue after his death. My only regret with this photo is that I didn’t clean the cobweb off of the statue before taking this shot. This and the Billy Williams statue had cobwebs all over them. You would think that the Cubs would take better care of their legends.
Technical Data
Like the earlier photo today I used the Infrared filter on this shot. I always liked the picture, but the sky in the background really threw me off. With this filter the background all kind of fades together letting the statue become the star of the photo. I did experiment with the white balance of the photo after applying the preset. It really allowed the statue to stand out. This is a three shot HDR image that was brought back into Lightroom to be processed. I think that these shots really react the best when I apply the infrared preset to them. I now have the depth to be able to tweak the image.
SmugMug Site
These trips do not pay for themselves. In order to keep traveling I have put some of my images from this site on SmugMug. This and other images are now available to purchase!
