So Long Stan the Man

Photo of the Day

Today I woke up to see the news that Stan ‘The Man’ Musial had passed away yesterday. Stan was one of those ballplayers that you would like your kid to emulate. He really was the real deal. Hall of Fame talent with a heart of gold. The city of St. Louis seemed to see this right away, and they have held him dear since he played in the 1940’s. If you want a good read of the golden age of baseball then George Vescey’s book about Stan titled Stan Musial: An American Life. It is the kind of book that helps you remember why you love the game of baseball. I have always admired Stan, but after reading that book I really came to find a greater appreciation for the man. So long Stan, the world will surely miss you.

I took this picture nearly five years ago while touring the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. I was very excited to see that among all the great Yankees lockers that they had one for Stan. It looked like he could suit up and play another game. I had kind of forgotten about this picture until today when I realized that I should write a post about Stan.

Technical Data

This was a jpeg so I was careful as to what I did to it. I did apply the sports filter to it because I thought it sharpened it a bit more. I did up the highlights as well, but then it was exported so that I could post it today.
