Time To Light Up the City

lafayette christmas

Photo of the Day

I have been debating whether or not to post this photo for a couple of days now. I really thought that during a walk on the West Lafayette side of the John T Meyers Pedestrian Bridge that I would find a little more Christmas spirit than I did. I wanted this shot with something in the foreground to offset the courthouse which was lit up in the background. I was shooting handheld on basically a scouting mission, but I really needed a Christmas shot today so this one goes up.

Technical Data

For this shot I used the B&W contrast preset that came with Lightroom. I thought that it did a good job bringing out some of the detail that I wanted to keep in the shot. I went with black and white because quite frankly I did not like how the normal shot looked. I thought that a B&W shot with a bit of contrast might look okay. I really need to go back and shoot this again with my tripod to see if I can get a shot with a little less noise in it. The other thing that I like about this shot is the fact that it has a bit of a panoramic feel to it. I used a custom crop here to do that. I lost a lot of pixels in the process, but for quick work it will do.
