Looking Out Into the Unknown

Photo of the Day

Along with my Christmas photo everyday this month I thought that I would also post a somewhat normal picture. That way I don’t completely bog down the site, although I really like Christmas. I thought that some though might want to see other pictures so I will continue to post shots as usual.

This is a shot that I like for many reasons. I took this while waiting for someone at the Adler Planetarium. Jim Lovell sits near the entrance in this very picturesque pose. I took a few shots of this before I was told that the site was closing, and I had to leave. I explained that I was waiting for someone, but they made me leave anyway. I had to go outside and try and find her in a big crowd instead of our agreed meeting place. It all worked out in the end, and I got the picture that I wanted.

Jim Lovell has donated many of his space artifacts to the museums in Chicago. He is famous for his flight that did not achieve its mission, but it also showed just how much we were sacrificing to go to the moon.

Technical Data

I had this shot looking good, but of course I had to run the Matt Kloskowski presets to see if an of them looked good. The sports preset light looked good, and that is what you see above. I keep thinking that it is cheating, but if you had something that worked in the darkroom you kept using the technique. In this Lightroom though the process does not damage the photo.
