Photo of the Day
Today I am releasing a second picture because I can. Much like this mornings picture this was one that I did not like when I took it. I had this vision of the New York City street with a glowing Chrysler Building at the end of it. This was back in 2008 during my first night in New York. I was enthralled by the city for sure. The rain that had fallen all day also gave the concrete a great glow. I just could not capture that in program mode on my camera. After some tweaking in Lightroom though this scene really looks like it did that night.
Technical Data
As I said I took this shot that I did not like at the time, and I processed it in Lightroom. I was inspired by the way that I brought the Times Square pictures back in Lightroom so I went on a search for pictures that I might be able to do the same thing to. The main thing that I had to do here was to recover the foreground detail. I brought that back by maxing out the shadows slider. I also played around with the vibrance and highlights sliders to get the look that I wanted. Because I shot this in jpeg I had to also use the noise feature in Lightroom to lesson the look of the noise. The last thing I did just before exporting the picture to use here was to add a bit of contrast. I have seen the last few days what a difference that makes. At the end of the day I took a picture that I was not happy with from my trip, and turned it into one of my favorites to be sure.
